Kids and Mac & Cheese. That’s like saying Hamburger and Cheese or Hot Dog and Ketchup or Porkchops and Apple Sauce!

I once filled a whole suitcase full of mac & cheese and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and brought them from the USA to Switzerland because both are not readily available here. My boys were happy to see me come home!

This recipe does not taste like the original kraft foods orange Mac. I do not know what they put in that powder and I am gonna let them keep that secret. I do like it though! Best trash food ever!

This one is a notch up in class and sophistication. And its guaranteed to make everyone’s tummy full and happy.

This recipe is with a roux, milk and cheese. You can definitely play with the cheese and also add some special touches.

How to make an awesome macaroni and cheese

  1. Start by boiling some salted water and get the pasta cooking. Once it is done, drain it but save a cup of the starchy water. You might want to use some in your cheese sauce.

    Combine the flour, salt and garlic powder.

    Melt the butter at medium heat on the stove in a pan.

    Add the flour mixture to the butter and whisk slowly into a nice paste.

    Slowly add the milk as you continue to whisk the mixture. You should have a nice cream sauce. Note: add the milk at low heat.

    Add the sour cream.

    Add the cheese and continue to cook at low heat until the cheese melts

    How is the thickness? Add some of the saved pasta water to make the sauce just how you want it.

    Mix into the pasta and enjoy!
