Compound Butters are really great. They are so easy to make and add so much to a meal’s diversity of flavors. Steaks fresh off the grill on a beautiful summer day with a variety of compound butters to choose from? Now you are talkin seventh heaven celebration!

We have lots of fresh rosemary and thyme growing all year long in our garden so this one was really easier for me to summon up. I just learned to roast garlic for another recipe, and it too, is so easy and so cool! So putting the two together in my head was easy to imagine and I was sure it would be a winner!

How to make Rosemary Thyme Herb Butter with Roasted Garlic

  1. Roast the Garlic

    Roast the Garlic. You need a whole garlic. Peel off all the loose outer skin. Cut the top off. Place in tin foil. Dazzle Olive Oil on the top. Roast in the middle of the oven at 400 Fahrenheit for 40 minutes.

     

  2. Make the Herb Butter

    Slightly melt butter. This can easily done in a microwave. But do not melt to much. You want it just real mushy so you can mix all the other ingredients into it.

    Add the roasted garlic. The garlic is very soft now. As you mix it into the butter, a lot of the garlic will completely mix in but allow some pieces to be partly whole. In other words you want the garlic to be thoroughly mixed into the butter but you also want some nice chunks too!

  3. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Place in the refrigerator for 5 minutes to harden.

  4. Place on a cutting board. Form into a nice log. Use some cellophane. Once the log is formed, wrap the log in the cellophane and  smoothen out the form of the log to make it nice and beautiful!

    Place in the refrigerator until ready to serve!
